Position: Civil/Environmental Engineer
Chemonics International seeks a Civil/Environmental engineer to provide technical leadership to the anticipated United States Agency of International Development (USAID) funded Coastal Community Adaptation Program (CCAP). This 5-year program will focus on responding to the challenges posed by climate change in three main components: 1) Rehabilitating or constructing new, small scale social and economic infrastructure 2) Building capacity for community engagement for disaster prevention and preparedness; and 3) Integrating climate resilient policies and practices into long term land use plans and building standards.
Responsibilities Include: providing technical leadership and guidance on the identification, design, implementation and maintenance of a range of small-scale social infrastructure activities with emphasis on rehabilitation, repair and improvements.
Qualifications: • Advanced degree in civil or environmental engineering • Minimum 7 years of experience in infrastructure design and construction in developing countries; experience in climate change programming preferred • Experience working in the Pacific Islands • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity • Fluency in English and at least one Pacific Island language required
