Position: Chief of Party
Chemonics International seeks a Chief of Party to provide leadership to the anticipated United States Agency of International Development (USAID) funded Coastal Community Adaptation Program (CCAP). This 5-year program will focus on responding to the challenges posed by climate change in three main components: 1) Rehabilitating or constructing new, small scale social and economic infrastructure 2) Building capacity for community engagement for disaster prevention and preparedness; and 3) Integrating climate resilient policies and practices into long term land use plans and building standards.
Responsibilities Include: Provide overall project leadership, management, and technical direction. Serve as the primary liaison with USAID, government counterparts, and local partners. Manage and supervise the work of project personnel and subcontractors. Ensure that all project assistance is technically sound and appropriate. Collaboratively create and implement a strategic, long-term programmatic vision. Oversee project work planning, performance management, and strategic communications.
Qualifications:Advanced degree in civil/environmental engineering, environmental science, urban planning, or relevant field required. Minimum 10 years of senior-level experience designing, implementing, and managing complex climate change adaptation projects and regional activities with multiple program institutions. Experience in a leadership role on donor funded projects, USAID experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to interact with government agencies, host-country governments and counterparts, and international donor agencies such as AusAID, NZAID, ADB etc. Strong interpersonal, writing, and oral presentation skills. Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity. Fluency in English required; proficiency in a Pacific Island language preferred.
