Position: Development Outreach
Chemonics International seeks a Development Outreach Coordinator to serve as the main point of contact for program outreach and media for the anticipated United States Agency of International Development (USAID) funded Coastal Community Adaptation Program based in Suva, Fiji. This 5-year program will focus on responding to the challenges posed by climate change in three main components: 1) Rehabilitating or constructing new, small scale social and economic infrastructure 2) Building capacity for community engagement for disaster prevention and preparedness; and 3) Integrating climate resilient policies and practices into long term land use plans and building standards.
Responsibilities Include: Providing outreach guidance and leadership to target audiences including the U.S. and Pacific Island governments, community leaders and the international donor community. Maintain and update the project's electronic and social media sites. Produce and disseminate an electronic newsletter, including layout, design, and editing. Produce and disseminate reports, studies, and other publications. Coordinate communication strategies with project staff. Serve as the project's media contact.
Qualifications:Degree in journalism, communications, or other relevant field. Minimum five years of experience in marketing/communications/public outreach with digital media experience preferred. Knowledge of climate change issues and challenges. Strong interpersonal, writing, and oral presentation skills. Fluent English and at least one Pacific Island language required.
