Position: Head Chef - Savai'i Island

Stevensons at Manase is a 25 room beachfront hotel located on the mid-north coast of Savaii in Samoa. A head chef is required to lead a team of local cooks for the hotel and to assist in the development of events such as weddings and conferences.
Responsibilities: Train and manage kitchen personnel and supervise/coordinate all related culinary activities; estimate food consumption and control food purchasing; select and develop recipes which utilize local produce; standardize production recipes to ensure consistent quality; establish presentation technique and quality standards; plan and price menus; ensure proper equipment operation/maintenance; and ensure proper safety and sanitation in kitchen. Oversee special catering events such as weddings and conferences and offer culinary instruction. The head chef directly supervises all kitchen personnel with responsibility for hiring, discipline and performance reviews.
Special qualifications: The ability to manage in a diverse environment with focus on customer service is essential to success in this role.
Experience: Previous experience in controlling food and labour costs, menu development and pricing and development of culinary team preferred. Five or more years of culinary management experience within a resort environment is required.
Education: The ideal candidates will possess a bachelor's degree or equivalent culinary training.
Package: Salary offered in line with experience, onsite accommodation, all meals and reasonable use of resort cars. Available accommodation is suitable for singles or couples only.
