SALES AND MARKETING DIRECTOR
A busy and popular four-star resort on a private beach in Samoa. It has won numerous awards including the 2019 Supreme Tourism Award. It is the only large resort in Samoa still owned and operated by Samoans, so the Samoan community benefits from the success of the Resort.
The Resort has conference facilities and a stunning all-marble wedding chapel As the Resort has grown from 60 rooms (2018) to 100 rooms (2019) and will have 120 room spaces by the end of 2020, the Resort is looking for a strong performer to fulfil the newly created role of Sales and Marketing Director.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Director of Sales and Marketing will be responsible for maximising the Resort’s revenues by developing programs to increase occupancy and make profitable use of its accommodation, meeting and leisure facilities. The appointee must maintain awareness of the factors that influence the hotel industry and gain a deep understanding of the needs and attitudes of a hotel’s customers. The appointee is also responsible for coordinating marketing and promotional activities and is responsible for the overall positioning of the hotel, and brand communication. The appointee will grow occupancy and yield including strategies for Rooms, Dining Outlets, and Events. In addition, they are responsible for room revenue, yield strategies, implementation, market performance and meeting budget, forecast, and optimal business mix targets. Strategies will include pricing, status, direct sales, market mix, marketing, and public relations. Candidates must have a dynamic leadership style, possessing excellent communication and decision making skills and an astute business acumen.
Description: The Sales and Marketing Director must lead a team that achieves the following
• Prepares Sales Reports and annual Sales & Marketing Plan • Creates effective Sales Programs that will increase awareness and positive perception of the Hotel, its activities, culinary services, and personnel. • Use knowledge of travel industry, current market trends and economic factors • To develop social media strategies across all platforms such as website, Facebook, Instagram to grow interaction with the Resort and encourage direct bookings • Develop a communication strategy for marketing to previous guests • To increase the number and percentage of bookings directly to the Resort rather than through commission agents. • Develop and implement specific strategies to grow the local market • Develop and implement specific strategies to increase groups such as weddings, reunions and conferences • Develop sales and pricing strategies that increase sales and REVPAR. • Develop and implement successful strategies to grow occupancy and revenue specifically in the low season of October – April. • Access, understand and accurately input information in RoomMaster. • Propose and implement marketing, advertising, sales plans, programs aligned with annual budgets and manages within approved plans and budgets • Develop rates, group sales deployment strategies through review of competitive data, demand analysis and mix management. • Effectively listen, communicate and perform positively with internal and external customers and staff in all situations. • Develop awareness and reputation of the hotel and the brand in the local community • oversee all group, transient, and banquet sales activities to maximise revenue for the hotel. • Prepare, implement and compile data for the strategic sales plan, monthly reports, annual goals, sales and marketing budget, forecasts and other reports as directed/required. • Perform other duties as assigned. • May participate in Manager on Duty Program
QUALIFICATIONS
Desired Skills & Experience • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in work experience • Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the sales/marketing/hospitality profession • Minimum five years of sales and marketing in the luxury hotel industry • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and property management systems. • Strong media, presentation and computer skills
